CMAS | CoALT

CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success) is Colorado’s state assessment system designed to measure how well students have mastered the state’s academic standards. These assessments provide important information about student achievement and academic growth, helping schools and families understand how students are progressing and where additional support may be needed.

For 11th grade students, CMAS includes only the Science assessment. This exam evaluates students’ understanding of key scientific concepts and practices as outlined in Colorado’s Academic Standards for Science. As a required state assessment, CMAS Science must be taken by all eligible 11th grade students in Colorado.

Colorado Alternate Assessments (CO Alt and DLM) are designed for students with significant cognitive disabilities and are required by the State of Colorado. These assessments measure what students know and can do in relation to grade-level standards, using formats and supports tailored to their learning needs. The DLM (Dynamic Learning Maps) assess English Language Arts and Math for students in grades 3–11.

Important Information About Science CMAS Testing 2026

Dear Riverdale Ridge Community,

On Tuesday, April 7th, we will administer the Science CMAS test to our 11th-grade students only. The CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success) Science is a critical tool for measuring student growth and mastery of state academic standards. These assessments help us evaluate our instructional programs, identify areas for improvement, and ensure our students are prepared for success beyond high school.

No other grade level is scheduled to take this exam. CMAS Science is only taken in high school once during a students junior year.

Standardized assessments like CMAS provide valuable insights into our students’ academic progress and readiness for future challenges. The data helps teachers tailor instruction to meet the needs of all students, ensures accountability at the school and district level, and supports our efforts to prepare students for college and career opportunities. Your support in encouraging your student to do their best on these assessments makes a difference!

We appreciate your partnership in ensuring a successful testing day. If you have any questions or need to make special arrangements, please contact the school office at 303-655-6800.
