Course Selection Process

Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, Riverdale Ridge High School will use a Schedule Repair Process rather than a traditional schedule change process.

A schedule repair is intended to correct an error or resolve an academic issue with a student's schedule—not to accommodate personal preferences or changes of mind. This ensures student schedules remain focused on graduation requirements, appropriate course placement, and overall school scheduling needs.

Please read the information below carefully before submitting a request.

Schedule Repair Process and Dropping Classes

• All schedule repairs must be submitted using the Schedule Repair Google Form (accessible only to students through their 27j account)
  • Any request that does not meet the requirements outlined below OR requests emailed directly to a counselor will not be approved.
• Schedule repairs will only be considered for students who complete the schedule repair form within the one-week window (accessible only to students). Submitting the form does not guarantee a schedule repair.  

Examples of student-initiated schedule repairs:

• Schedule repairs may occur at any appropriate time when deemed necessary with approval of administration.
  • EX: the approval for special education services or other extenuating circumstances.
• Mid-year schedule repair requests are prohibited. Only staff-initiated repairs to fulfill graduation requirements will be allowed.
• Withdrawal fails are handled on a case-by-case basis. The following guidelines apply: 
  • Students will receive a (WF) withdrawal fail grade, impacting GPA on their transcript for the course
  • Requires student, counselor, guardian, teacher, and administrator signatures
• Concurrent enrollment students will work directly with  their counselor when withdrawing from a college course in partnership with the community college and complete the required form with counselor, guardian, and student signatures.
• Students who withdraw from Riverdale Ridge High School and enroll in another school during an active semester will have NO final grades entered on their transcript for that semester. Instead, current grades are issued to the receiving school upon request,  and the student’s schedule is removed from Infinite Campus with the drop date on record. 
• Riverdale Ridge High School staff may complete schedule repairs as needed, and do not require prior approval from students or parents. An example for a  repair may include but is not limited to: changing a student’s schedule to accommodate class size requirements (admin/counselor initiated) 

As a reminder, students are required to be enrolled at a minimum of 5 classes and advisory. If seniors are on track for graduation, they may take less than a full schedule in the second semester. Please refer to the policy above that prohibits mid-year changes. However, any student participating in a CHSAA activity must take a minimum of 5 classes plus advisory to be considered eligible for that activity.
